Great news from Ample Harvest: produce donations were up in 2018!

One resource I've begun following is Ample Harvest: https://ampleharvest.org/.

It was Ample Harvest, through a Gardener's Supply campaign, that gave me the idea to donate produce in the first place. Until last year, I didn't even know hobby gardeners like me could donate extra produce!

Ample Harvest encourages and helps facilitate produce donation around the country. Check out their site to find a food pantry near you that accepts produce donations. Their most recent e-newsletter noted results from their annual food pantry survey. The survey results indicated that 70% of food pantries received produce donations last year, which was up from "about 67%" the previous year.

The newsletter also linked to a great introductory article from Feeding America, "Five Tips for Growing a Garden that Fights Hunger". The article can be found here: https://www.feedingamerica.org/hunger-blog/five-tips-for-gardening.
