A mom and her garden.
I'm not an expert, but I want to do more!
I've been casually backyard gardening for years. At my current home, I've worked to expand my gardens little by little. I have raised beds and fruit trees. I'm also trying to add more native, pollinator-friendly plants each year. But I have no formal training, and I know there is more to learn!
So, to learn more, I'm taking classes with the UMass Amherst Stockbridge School of Agriculture. I plan to earn a BS in Sustainable Food and Farming, and it's off to a great start!
This semester, I'm studying the concept of "gardening for good".
For the course, I will focus on produce donation. This includes researching topics related to hunger and produce donation, planning and implementing my own garden for good, and documenting my efforts here.
What about you?
Let's give it our best shot. We're here because we share that feeling that there's more to do!
As I progress in my own studies and personal gardening journey, I hope to create a helpful resource for others. Check out my blog for updates on what I'm doing or the resources section for sites and sources I've come to trust.
